#1 The hate of DCOE40’s
Rezlo Posted on: 2009/7/17 9:43
I have had nothing but hell with my DCOE40’s on my A15

First set of full race prep units leaked fuel out the choke box’s and kept flooding out.

Second set of full race prep units would not let me corner without the car wanting to stall out, then the front carb would empty its bowl over night, all over the engine bay and chassis leg.

At instructions from the carb man I have changed fuel pump’s, changed regulators, changed surge tank, changed fuel lines, changed motor (dont ask), changed float levels (everything from 8mm to 11mm) changed fuel pressure (from 1psi to 4psi) changed body angle and just about every other thing one can imagine…

Car runs so well, but over night the thing empties its fuel bowl and the carb builder is convinced it can not be a cracked body and I am just not seeing how it can empty itself,,, he keeps telling me that my fuel tank must build up pressure and its flooding so i have fuel all over but I have already been over that with him, shut the car of and boom zero fuel pressure and the tank breather is 100% free, does not budge, everything else is 100%... so yeah, I have had 2 sets of the supposed “best built” carbs in the country (his carbs are run on all the top oval track and historic cars) and I am being made out to have some form of faulty car… All I want is my poor A-15 to not get bore wash or set on fire AGAIN!!!

So yeah… I went for broke and ordered a brand new set of 45’s... as they say, either you win or you loose with DCOE's, I am now done listening to somone else reasons why his carbs are right and my car isnt. Now i just need to fix all the fire damage!

My rant for the week

F^%k,

This sounds terrible.
My experience with the 36DCD on a racing track was also not that good.

I have to report that the SU's is a treat on a Gymkhana track.

Rezlo, I hope you get this sorted.

I would have totally lost it. You had my dream engine setup. Just a pity the fueling part didn't want to work perfectly aswell.
Pity you can't go bike throttles in the racing that you are doing. I think that would have solved your problems.
All the best and please keep us updated.

You want a DCOE40 with a cracked body? lol, that is the only thing that can cause the fuel to leak out the bowl... drip drip drip WOOF

Lucky, the Carb guru has a money back guarantee... Just a pity it wont cover all the damage it already created. The 45’s should be a TREAT on this A15.

I was so tempted to bin the A15 and go SR20 with 50mm throttles, 304deg cams etc but It goes agains the whole reason I bought the car, its for Marque racing, only of era mods. I got my Silvia and an Evo9 for when im in a real hurry

DCOE weber's don't like high fuel pressures. Around 3psi is as much as they want.
