would the front struts of a datsun sunny fit a 1200 ute without being modified? also ive herd because the sunny is imported the callipers are smaller than an australian built 120y is this true?

dude the sunny and the 120y are pretty much the same...the only mod is to drill the top of the tower as the studs are bigger then the 1200 ones

Just put the 1200 strut tops on the 120y ones the rest is a straight bolt in. Depending on the year of ute the sunny ones may require different steering arms, LCA's then like 120y castors and all sunny ball joints, tie rods etc if early model ute that is.

The reason the Sunny struts are not a direct fit is the centre to centre distance of the holes that bolt the strut to the steering arm are wider on the Sunny. To fit them you need the complete corner - lower control arm, steering arm, balljoint & castor arm.If you're wrecking a Sunny & have all those parts, go for it. If you only have the struts, a better bet is the struts from a post 76 120Y sedan. These have the same centre to centre distance as the 1200 so they bolt to the 1200 steering arm, the disc & caliper is same size as the Sunny brakes,if not larger, & you only have to change the strut tops to the original 1200 ones for a real bolt in. You just can't run your original 12 inch steel wheels, you have to get 120y ones. Not much of a drawback, to my way of thinking.

search "stanza struts", you will get a list of what you need to make sunny struts a straight bolt in
what year is your ute? if its a later model one you only need to change 2 things to make them bolt in personally i wouldnt use sunny struts though, if you want the car to be low then you will need to get shorter inserts and cut the strut bodys down so that you have suspention travel. and also sunny struts have a different stub axle to all the other larger datsun struts so you cant swap hubs or anything better off with some 180b or 200b struts
