Can't get it to start

I bought an auto coupe a few weeks ago. Pulled out the A12 and Auto and put in A15 and 4spd manual.
I swapped over the engine bay wiring loom with one from a manual to get rid of the wiring for the transmission and also to move the alternator to the right hand side. I can't get it to start. It is turning over, It has fuel, there is power to the coil. I have swapped over coils. Still no spark. Does anyone know if there is anything in the auto loom that needs to be bridged, if this could be the issue? Anyone got any ideas? thanks Bruce

Yes, definitely. The starting wiring goes back to the automatic transmissoin.
So just connect the coil directly to IGN. Then it should be no problem.

DD thanks for the reply,
is there a wire I can take it from in the engine bay, or do I need to take it back to the ignition switch? cheers Bruce

Well I don't know as I've never owned an automatic car. But i've heard this described.
Yes you can run a new wire into the car and under the dash. This would work, but would be better to tap into it under the hood. Check the wiring diagram it may help. I recall there is a little box or connector on the firewall just above/behind the firewall that is going to the automatic. Which 1200 do you have? North American or Australian model?

Unfortunately I don't have an auto wiring diagram, and the link to shoeys.com where they used to be, doesn't appear to be working.
It is an Australian Model... cheers Bruce

Ok,
I ran a wire direct from the ignition to the positive side of the coil. Still no luck, it is turning over but still not firing (no spark) Any other ideas? cheers Bruce

I have tried 4 different coils, so I am convinced it is not the coil that is the issue.
I will check the gap but pretty sure it is ok, cheers....
