so my 1979 model is a B120, but did the datsun 1200 sedan, wagon, coupe end its production line in 1976? so if my ute was made 3 years later then my comercial light weight ute should be of that year? if so then the weightshould be of a 1979 sedan? so of the 120y production? but then in 1978 the datsun 1200 utes then became the b121 which had squared head lights and replaced the b120, so if i was for a engine conversion which weight can i go off? the datsun 120y sedan at 900kgs or the datsun 1200 coupe 700kgs? thanks for reading guys

B120 line was made from 1971-1994.

With subvariants that were made untill the end of 2007 in South Africa.

The '20' suffix means that it is a commercial model or a 'truck' while the '10' suffix is used for passenger models, so the B110 was made from 1970 untill 1973 [even longer in South Africa] while the B120 was made for MUCH longer, at least untill 1994 in Japan.

The B210 was made from 1974 untill '77, but it wasn't made at all in South Africa, which is why the 1200 had such a long production run there,

There was no such thing as a B220 or a B320

A cat converter was a legal requirement on all passenger models that were manufactured from 1/1/1986 here in Australia.
Commercial models did not require them for another few years.

Well, B210 was sold in South Africa through at least 1980 (apparently they didn't have the B310).

There was a N320, a Datsun 1200 ute in 1963-1965 with single-piece body. But this was a truck-based full frame vehicle. Hence no "B", it was not a Sunny family vehicle. Dimensions are almost identical to the more modern Datsun Sunny 1200 ute.

I knew that some PB210 cars were sold in South Africa but didn't believe, & still am not convinced, that the B210 was made or sold there.

On the other hand, ...
The 1200 was sold in S.A. untill 1975 or '76 as far as I know while the B210 model was a production reality in the rest of the world untill 1977 or '78 so I suppose that South Africa needed to fill the gap with something.

Was it the B210???
