63a #3 - 5 speed dogleg install query

Hi peoples,
I've been reading your forum for about a week now, hence the registration, I own a 1971 B110 1200 sedan with the A12 motor in it and 4 speed. It's going to be slowly upgraded but only with datsun bits, and is still on it's original plates. I recently bought a 63a #3 dogleg 5 speed out of a stanza sss 1600, with the goal of (this coming thursday night) installing it in the 1200 sedan. What I'm asking for is a quick check list of parts that I'll need to have to achieve the change over. I know that (or think I know) - the 63a gearbox support strut will be 20mm out so make some adapter plates - the gearbox output shaft is bigger so I have to swap the one that came with the box onto my existing tailshaft (I just physically checked before posting this) - the speedo cable will need to be replaced with a longer one - the clutch plate is possibly going to have to be replaced with one from a stanza, but that's where I have an issue the stanza clutch plate is 200mm with 25.5 hole with 24 teeth according to the exceedy parts cat - and the B110 is 180mm with 20.5 hole with 18 teeth. if I replace the plate I'ld therefore have to replace the pressure plate as well etc (get a clutch kit which would include the thrust bearing), but will this larger clutch kit fit up to my flywheel? or do I need to replace that too? Any and all advice will be greatfully accepted :)

Hi and Welcome,
another issue, the Stanza box is L series and won't bolt up to the A series Block, and not 100% isn't the L series hydraulic clutch? I think it might be a bigger task than you first thought, there is such a beast as 63a A series box but they are very few and far between, 60 series boxes are getting more common, but expensive..

doesnt the dogleg and the "a" after the 63 on the side of the casing mean it will bolt up to a "a" series motor?
This box is cable not hydraulic I'm going to go for a quick crawl before the light fades

the next thing I'll be putting in is disc brake front's, but that'll be another week, lol.
But my main concern atm is the gearbox change-over. My mate has a stanza dogleg 5 speed in his ute, but he can't quite remember what he had to do for the conversion apart from the cross member and the tailshaft. 60 mph @ 2700 rpm = drool :)

wont be an l series bell housing so chances are its not a L series dog leg. might be the rare a series 63 a.
Ive got a L series 63a but its behind an L series in my 1200 sedan- no way will it bolt to a a series without heavy mods to bell housing(a swap of bell housings to be exact- one member has modded an a series auto bell housing to use a L series box behind an a series. not easy thats for sure.)

what numbers and letters are on the side of your casing unfamilia ?
mine says 63a #3 and then #3 on the other side of the seam line, the case is a "smooth case"

any clutch joint will be able to make the plate you need, its just an l series centre with 180mm(from memory) outer diametre. l series standard diameter - 200mm, a series - 180mm. Ot will work with the standard A12 pressure plate.
I bought one a few years ago, the Australian part# is NSD030U and is made by DAIKIN It was a made to order thing so I dont know if they can still supply them its OD 180mm ID 125mm Splines 24

63a came in both L and A series versions, if it came in a stanza it will be an L series version. Th "a" in the number means that it is not a revised version of the gearbox, NOT that it is for an a series.
