#1 Weird Electrical situation ??. Fixed.
DatsAndy Posted on: 2010/8/1 4:32
Didnt title it as a problem cause it may not be. My brake lights and horn only work when the ignition is at ON. Shouldn't they work even with no key in the ignition ? Its been so long since i played with a going 1200 that i cant remember if this is normal. but im sure its not.

yes andy your right
brake lights and horn should work whether the ignition is on or not
i remeber with my 120y the horn uses a relay which is located under the dash board
near the blinker can.
anyway that should get power even when the ignition is off

and for the brake lights im not too sure if they use a relay or not.

No relay for brake lights, they should work with ignition off. Must be wired to the ignition circuit...but why???

you can change the power feed for
them on the back of the fusebox
its on a switched power feed
not a live battery feed

Maybe mine is hooked up wrong ( wouldn't supprise me!).
My brake lights and horn work with IGN off, that seems correct to me.

Thanks to another complete dash i figured out what you mean tommo. So i swapped the thick white wire (feed i assume) with the thick black wire (assume its the earth) and wallah got brake lights and horn with no key in it. Had those 2 wires arse about. Thanks a bunch fellas your legends.

check to see if any thing works with key off
if somthing works thats not ment to swap wires on
back of fuse box with brake/horn wire
(spade ternimals on back of fuse box)
mine is wrong, indicaters work with key off
if all fails give me a ring

Just to add i also had a lot of other wires arse about once compared to the other dash i have. We fixed horn and brake light situation but turned out i had blinkers with the ignition off. All reconfigured and sorted.
