Take the time to read the technical library that has been so carefully assembled by ddgonzal.

Be polite and do your own research before asking slack questions like "how do u find out wat cranks is wat?????"

Use the lump between your ears and research. If you get given a crank that MAY BE a 1500 or 1400 crank then begin with a question like: does it suit an A-series? What engine did it come from? Is it a FORD crank or is it an ISUZU crank or is it a Datsun crank? etc etc.

it a datsun a-series crank and he had a box of bit for his datsun and he had a14 and a15 bits together so he did no wat the crank wasout of.

I thought it was a good question. Measuring the throw is somewhat tricky...the casting number is certainly easier.
