ok so i bought a r31 diff with the brakes and complete
i havent picked it up yet but have been told it needs to be cut down 100 mm. 50 a side. does anyone know a local place that will do a decent job and will customise the tailshaft to suit. cheers.

wouldnt be paying more than $200 for a complete open r31 diff
driveline specialist should be able to either do it or point you in the direction of someone who can think around $1000 is a pretty normal price for shortening the diff, its cheaper if you cut all the r31 mounts off so you arent paying for someone elses time tailshaft, $100ish to just shorten. dont know how much for swapping a yoke

You only need to shorten one side of a r31 diff as far as i know as they have a long and short axle.

$650 doesnt really seem that cheap if you actually know what they are doing, and if you have cut all the mounts off yourself
as all they need to do is get one axle cut down and resplined. say $100-150 then they just cut a section out of each side of the diff adn weld it back together in a jig to keep it straight obviously price will go up if they have less experience with it as they will be charging you for time to measure and figure out how to cut it down You can view topic.
