Early or Late Model Engine

Hi i was just wondering if my engine is the earlier or later model engine.. i heard based on dizzy position it requires a different resistor?

that there is a late A12 ,being that the dizzy is at the rear of the motor instead of at the front ,where the alternator is in your pic

so with the late model engine I'd need a fuel pump from a post 1973 model 1200?

Nah i dont think so.
The mechanical fuel pumps are interchangable im pretty sure. or you could blank off the hole and use a cheap low presssure electic pump.

does somewhere sell the blanking plates? and re the electric pump what would you suggest from where?

whats wrong with your pump? isnt it all there already? if so just connect your fuel line
and add a resistor (little white chewing gum sized ceramic box) and thats it.

It's playing up.. im not getting enough fuel to the carby when going uphill! haha it's quite funny the first few times but now im over it!
I bought the replacement pump from ebay but is the early model one so im just wondering do i sell it and buy a later model one or just go electric..

The fuel pump should work fine the only differance would be the crank arm and or the bolt plate may be smaller! Hope this helps if not u can look at the wiki

you can hunt one down from a wreckers as they usually down wear out easily.
Have you tried pulling it apart? you might be able to change arms. You can view topic.
