200B Struts Into 1200 .. Again

I have already taken the 200B struts I bought apart, and tried to get my head around the some advice to cut the 1200 spring perch off and weld it onto the 200b struts. It has come to my attention that the tube on the 200B it 51mm in width, but the width of the 1200 strut is only 46mm so the perch wont fit,
Can someone please help me....

Get the cups off a A10 Stanza or 240Z struts (expensive, but neatest solution).
Otherwise, you need to put them in a 4 jaw chuck, and bore them out. I did that 18 years ago with 200b struts using the 1200 cups.
