bevo Posted on: 2011/7/27 5:40
hi there goes just wondering which diff to use in my ute a mate of mine just gave me a VE ss comomdore ute diff disc to disc for free and i already have a old 9inch at home but just wondering which one would be better suited for my ute with 13bt i already have the maddat front brake setup and coilovers with holden stud pattern to.. So which one would be best and cheapest to change diff gears and so on?

arent VEs IRS?

I'd say 9 inch would be cheaper given the amount of aftermarket stuff there is available for them

Yep definately the 9".. all commodores after VS were irs, and unless you want alot of stuffing around id give it a miss. Plus the 9" will be stronger.

As pig said the aftermarket parts available for the 9" is bloody massive.

PIGDOG.... I think the sedan and wagon VEs are IRS but the diff i got is out of a ute which still use a standed diff thats why i was asking cause when my mate said i could have the diff i was like i cant cause its IRS then i was told not in the utes there not..

WARDY.. Im pretty sure the commodore utes vs,vt,vy and so on dont run a IRS its only in sedans and wagons

and yes pigdog im with you the nine inch parts are alot cheaper was just asking thats all

Hmm I thought that all ve's were IRS, could be wrong tho, and yes sorry the utes from vt-vu onward were IRS as mentioned.

definately go with the 9" as everyone as suggested, as its easier and cheaper to get parts for BUT that said the choice eventually is up to you and what u feel more comfortable running

Crewman had a diff (beam axle)
But no crewman in VE
The VE ute is IRS too

So not sure what your mate was offering you
