Speedo Problem

Hi Guys
(See the Attachment ) I am in the process of cleaning the stuff to refit them after the paint job done, took my Speedo and turned it using Blue Color nob as usually it rotates red color thing but doesn't rotate yellow color plate, so the speedo needle doesn't work ,then i tried to rotate yellow color plate along then the speedo needle started rotating, any body got the same issue earlier, is it the reason that red color piece doesn't touch with Yellow color plate or any other reason ? thank regards sumith

The part pointed to by the Red arrow is the cup. It does not touch the round part, but instead the magnetic pull will turn it when it goes fast enough.
You can turn it with a drill to test it -- it only works at speed, you won't be able to turn it fast enough by hand. At 1024 RPM it should read 60 mph or 100 kph. The specification is printed on the face.

I do not know. But it won't hurt it to go backwards. So give it a try. Even a hand drill can be used. 200 RPM should read about 20kph I think.

Hey, while I had my speedo out I had the idea to attach a speedo cable and a drill. Ran it at as far as the speedo would go just to see. Worked fine.
Got the idea to roll the odometer aroud to zero, but a quick calculation meant sticking the drill on to run all day would equate to approx 6 months to get back to all zeros!!!!

Hi Guys
I checked it with the Drill Mechine(clockwise Rotation) it did not work, have to check it with anti clockwise drill and see it ,went through wiki as it you need reversible drill to test it is it ? http://datsun1200.com/modules/mediawiki/?title=Speedometer thanks regards sumith thanks regards sumith You can view topic.
