DATUTE1 Posted on: 2011/10/14 8:36
Is it worth putting in Dynamat? It going to cost me around $280 for all the sheets. Thoughts?

If you do long trips or have a decent sound system i would say maybe, but still a fair bit of coin

roof tar works well and then cheap recycled cotton
undermatting about 6 a metre from trimmer supplies.
Stops rust and then noise.

there are other brands that are less expensive on the market & I do think its helpful but still not cheap.

I used: http://www.rumblemat.com/

I think one could buy from a roofing company butel (not asphalt based product!) membrane w/aluminum foil face & use that, I covered mine with 40 oz. jute carpet pad anyways for sound deadening.

Ill second that roof tar works well.
Its a bit agricultural but it works.

I sealed in my old patrol with this stuff, which went from leaking like a sieve to nearly water tight. I then used old carpet underlay (2nd hard you can get for free) for the sound deadening. It seemed to make a difference. Instead of hearing just engine noise, I could then hear the exhaust system instead!

Hey Datute1, how much material do you require and did you measure up or just assume that one of the kits is about right? I purchased a bulk kit off amazon for about $185US, might be worth a look if you aren't in a big rush.

Thanks guys. Roof tar and underlay is a good cheap option.

EDP, foil membrane and 2 layers of that underlay is a great idea and you'd probably hear little noise. Looks nice and padded. Your interior looks fantastic, you just have you peddles on the wrong side! :)

__1200ute, how much was post? I saw a few on eBay from the US cheap, but because it's so heavy, shipping's is dear.

Hey Datute1, it was $127.95 for the Dynamat extreme bulk (9sheets - 3.3m2) and $57.28 for shipping.

The thing about roof tar is the oil content usually prevents rusting.

Those rumblemats looks awesome though!!!

I bought some sound proofing mats from tru-fit carpets, I think they are in Melbourne. Good quality stuff but it does weigh a bit. Google search them it's worth a look, they also make moulded carpets and floor mats
