#1 120y into 1000
firstdatsun Posted on: 2012/1/11 22:20
Has any one fitted a late model a12 into a dat 1000 sedan. I have finished building the engine and went to fit it into the car and noticed they sit about 10cm further forward than the a10 engine or the early model a12. now everything is going to be out. no room for radiator and fan. gearbox will be to far forward and tail shaft will be to short.

same as fitting to a 1200. common way is just to make a couple of flate plates to accomodate the different mount locations. Wiki_A-series_Engine_Swaps

Which gearbox are you using? the 120Y box will require mods to trans-tunnel to clear the clutch fork/lever. And the matching tailshaft. 1000 gearbox requires swapping the flywheel and clutch onto the A12, or shortening the spigot area of the 1000 gearbox input shaft to fit the 120Y engine.

I had an A14 with 120Y box in my old 1000 coupe.

is this set up with the engine mounts alright? how dose the rubber cope with it, do they tare easier or not much difference?

We will be using the 1000 gear box. I have already had the 1000 flywheel re ground and have brought a new 1000 clutch.

I've got a 15 in a 1000 with the modified plate style mount... works fine
So too does the A12A in the coupe on modified mounts
