#1 Fitting turbo problem!
steve1991 Posted on: 2012/4/13 5:39
Ok this is the problem that I'm having. I've just changed my exhaust manifold from the standard cast to a stainless steel manifold. I was currently trying to reinstall it back on the motor and the turbo is just hitting on the engine mount. What should I do??? Modify the mount?? I'm going to get a hernia from the stress cause this #OOPS# always happens to me when I buy new #OOPS#.

Please someone help!!!

Pic of where it's hitting? Can you mod the mount by grinder ?

I think you should be able to see the photos.
Won't cutting the mount weaken it?

Hey mate,

Better to source out another manifold or get one custom made to fit.or maybe even top mount manifold. The turbo seems pretty close to the mount and doesnt have alot of allowance for 'engine movement'.
Abit of encouragement, im sure most people have installed parts just for something little and sometimes big like these to crop out and have to start from scratch. i.e breaking overtightened bolts and needing to rethread.

keep at it mate

what kind of merger collector does it have? you could maybe take it to a fabricator and get it shortened a bit

All good guys I got it. I just pulled the mount off first and put the turbo and manifold on. Done the nuts up. Then put the mount back on. After many tantrums and throwing stuff. Cheers

Hey guys got another problem. The dump pipe hits where the gearbox bolts to the motor. Ya reckon grind it down abit or bash a dint into dump pipe to make it fit???

Unless you get one made- you could dent the dump first and grind a little off the flange, it may weaken it slightly.

Could you take it to an exhaust shop and get them to bend it slightly away?
