BeeJJ Posted on: 2012/7/12 11:11
Hey,
Just wondering if anyone knows how to adjust the fuel gauge on this style dash:

Basically my gauge works but reads about 1/3 too low all the time. i.e when I fill up full it only shows 2/3 full

thanks

Have you tried cleaning the resistor/contacts in the sender unit? It normally fixes the problem.

factory Fuel Gauges are non-adjustable.

The fuel "sender" is the part that goes bad (the resistor in the fuel tank).

Click Fuel Sender, especially note the Specifications section.

Pull it out and check for corrosion, very gently clean the winding (resistor) and contact with fine sandpaper.
Any corrosion will alter the resistance and give the guage a false reading.
Hope this helps, It worked for me.

EDIT: also check the float for leaks.
