Have you tried cleaning the resistor/contacts in the sender unit? It normally fixes the problem.

factory Fuel Gauges are non-adjustable.
The fuel "sender" is the part that goes bad (the resistor in the fuel tank). Click Fuel Sender, especially note the Specifications section. ![]()

Pull it out and check for corrosion, very gently clean the winding (resistor) and contact with fine sandpaper.
Any corrosion will alter the resistance and give the guage a false reading. Hope this helps, It worked for me. EDIT: also check the float for leaks. You can view topic.
