The dying Datsun population

Have been reading a lot of car magazines lately, and have been noticing heaps of datsuns(especially 1200's) getting turned into drag cars, not just a few either, like hundreds...
Personally, i think it is kind of wrong, considering they are cutting it up to the extent that there isn't really any datsun left in it...(tubs,intercoolers,fiberglass work, rollcages) It's just adding to the already dying datsun population, same goes with old rotors.. Just wondering if anyone else has there 2 cents to say on this topic.

I wish I had the money to buy as many datsuns as I could and store them for there parts or for others to buy them for restoration.

This is all about personal preference, i.e. whatever floats your boat, and everyone will have their own opinion. We have folks on here with rotary powered cars, V8s, V6's, inline sixes, and the list goes on. Like I've said before, it's your car, and your money---build what you want. I have had Datsuns over the years with JDM power, and American power. I have left the Datsun emblems on, and they are registered as a Datsun. Don't be afraid to build your Datsun to your own taste, whether it's been modified, or left stock.

They wernt sold as a sports car or a classic.... Stock ones have a lot of potential, but arnt a great drivers car, if it wasn't for the overly done up ones most of us wouldn't even know they were ever built

This week I picked up my 7th datto 1200 sedan, always loved them always will, but as a stock car with just some chromed rims on them
My latest baby is a 1971 sedan Auto 9 months rego on her and only things wrong is a leak from sump plug, carpets on drivers side thinned so needs replacing, rear door only opens from inside and even though the seats aren't damaged they need updating She has been garaged all her life, only 22 though miles on the clock as she is a one owner who has just had to hand their licence in, I told the gentleman I wouldn't rally her out as someone stopped him at the garage one day and offered him $1500 there and then when he said he would rally her out the old man refused to sell, I paid $500 for her which is really just the years rego fee, ATM she is cream which is her original paint actually everything if original , even though she was his only car she wasn't driven often the past 10 years or so, he only drve her to get shopping and bread and milk, Sooooo the journey of daisy starts his week, ive stripped her seats out and taken her back to bare floor while the carpets are ordered Just wondering what do do about the radio, it's the original AM one and iPod doesn't plug in, someone suggested leave original in there and put one in glove box, ohh which needs the cover replacing if anyone has one, it's perished on the top ledge Wendy You can view topic.
