#1 Best all round turbo

In your guys experience what is the best turbo size to use, A/R ratio etc for a stock a14 for a decent street drivable application.. ie, nice power gains at a decent rpm (not too high or too low)

Fun, drivable but lots of power.. Thoughts? Experiences? Applications?.. Let me know.

For the street, i`d recomend a single turbo off a twin turbo skyline. The genuine units have a ceramic turbine wheel that limits them to about 12Psi. They have an exhaust AR of .48 and will make over 100Kw ATW on a good engine.

If the budget allows, buy a new replacement one from garrett.$1130, These are a BB unit and rated at around 250Hp. It will make good power from 3500rpm on an A14.707160-7 is the part number from memory. the 707160-5(GT2860 w.64 AR exh) is the upgrade turbo that i have on my A12 but it doesn`t get really cracking till 5000rpm. It would come on a little earlier on an A14 but probably too large for the street. It is rated at 350Hp.

Check the Garrett website to see the all the specs on these turbos.

for general use, I would vote for a t25 as well, good price, reliable, good size,
readily available,

You can also get gtr n1 turbos that are steel wheeled but they more like a t28

T25bb and theres also a very efficient GT2252 normal bearing one
that is quite affordable and matches many BB turbos of that size.
The suzuki gti drag guys are onto it

If you dont want to spend any money what about an old T2 off an 1800SSS Bluebird?
Worked alright on my A14- 13.7 @ 107mph through the quarter mile...(12lbs boost )
Cheers

Just be aware that T25, T28 doesnt really say alot about the size of the internals of the turbo, it`s just the frame size.
Eg. you can by a new 25 series turbo with the same internals as a 28. They will make the same power.

Just had another look at the Garret site...The Gt2252 that D suggested would be great for the street. The GT2259 looks good also. Altho i havent tried either of these.

Good valid points there from the expert A series turbo man himself!
There are plenty of T25/28 versions out there with much bigger AR
on both sides than an A14 would be happy on the street.
Id definitely go for one of the twin turbo snails as mentioned &
if affordable the gt22 are perhaps the most efficient non BB snails.
Like all good turbo set ups the devils in the tuning so best get it
on a dyno with good hands once its mostly setup.

I often get a lift in a GTI 1300cc with a gt2252 and that thing is
just bananas on how well it destroys the bitumen from any rpm.

any specs on or which car the T25BB came from D?

the twin skyline turbo sounds great with ceramic wheel, BB and .46 exhaust ratio, on street you would want stock compression and boost up to 10psi from as low as possible, this turbo is going to give you exactly that

i would recommend injection or suck through, blow through carby presents some obstacles that are difficult to overcome
