A standard Ford oil cooler kit fits, doesn't it? A-series uses the same oil filter flange.

A cobber of mine was saying you can buy kits off the tard which consist of a sandwich plate that runs between the pump and filter. you can also buy a thermostatic bypass which will bypass the cooler when the oil isn't hot enough to need cooling. Great for street driving. (Esp in winter)Should go a long way towards preventing oil scour.

Do you need one? Does your oil get above 215F/102C degrees?

If racing you may need this.

For a street 1200, it's unlikely to happen unless your engine coolant temperature rises above 195F/90C.

I did also hear that those sandwich plates can cause the oil pump housing to crack around the thread and need to be bolted/ secured better to the main pump housing- this was from Reg Cookes offsider who probably more than anyone would know.
Anyone heard anything about this problem?

Just tot to use it as an oil cooler..

Interesting question... the cooling system is about 15 lbs, while the oil system is 60 lbs

Why not would pressure test the heater core? If it holds 80 psi them it will be reliable at 60
