Hi after having another set of points burn out on me I'm contemplating electronic ignition I was just wondering if pertronix are good kits for a daily driving a12?
I have a Bosch resisted coil would I keep it with the pertronix setup including coil resistor and condenser? Just wondering how to install it with that setup and if it's one people would recommend or are there other"s? Thanks tom

Points & condensor are tune-up parts. They are supposed to be replaced on schedule. A common cause of premature burning is replacing the points, but not the condenser. Another is using the wrong coil.

I put one on my sisters ute 1.5 years ago and still works fine. If your coil needs a resistor then you will obviously need it but no condenser.
Also buy it from the USA it is much cheaper.

I have had good luck with the Pertronix. I have owned two, one was in my '68 Cougar for many years serving as my wife's daily driver. Car and Pertronix now reside in Aus. To install it you would need to retain your resistor as the resistor is there to limit current to the coil. The Pertroniix has two wires, one red and one black. The red goes to 12V, so hook it to the 12V side of the resistor. The black lead goes to the negative terminal of the coil.

It is the non-coil side of the resistor. Wiring diagram is in our club article on Pertronix, also when you buy it comes with directions.
