#1 CA18DET ignition module. How hot do they get?
cadet1200 Posted on: 2013/2/1 9:12
Can anyone running a ca18 confirm for me how hot the ignition module gets. I'm wanting to install mine inside the cabin and have found a suitable location, but before I go ahead and fit it I want find out whether it's either going to set my dash on fire or run to hot and cause ignition issues.

I had a 180sx awhile ago and think I checked it after a run and it was cool....but I could be wrong. The fact that Nissan designed it with cooling type fins has me questioning this.

Nissan bolts it to the engine on some models don't they? So you can pay them several hundred dollars for another one when it burns out. Under the dash will be better than factory.

Thanks for the answers guys. I will fit it up under the dash then......will make the wiring a little neater that way.

Yeah I thought about kick panel area too, but I want to feed wires through the drivers side of the firewall where the clutch cable used to go, so gonna put it up near the steering column.

P.S. Looks like a big black snakes running loose in your car Nick. You'd better watch out!
