Rear main oil seal removal, how?

What is the best way to remove the rear main oil seal without dropping the sump? Gearbox etc is off but engine still in car.
Can't remember how I did it 16 years ago. Cheers, Levey.

Dig it out with an awl, or similar implement.

Tiny screwdriver on the edge of it gently tap through with hammer and pry as you go how i am taught at work when i do clutches and the seal is leaking

Thanks guys, I started with the screwdriver then worried about scratches and damage to the sealing face.
