#1 S13 Brake Conversion Problem
Elrich11 Posted on: 2014/1/18 0:22
Hi all, I am currently doing the S13 brake conversion on the standard 1200 struts. I have a bit of a problem with the caliper not sitting in the correct position. I am using the adaptors from Datgx with 250mm rotors and CA18DET calipers.
I know Datgx has sold plenty of these so just seeing what I might be doing wrong? Has anyone had a similar problem before? I am not sure if the adaptors are to suit the larger rotors?
I am using the stock disk strut (late model '85) with drum hubs (I have spaced the adaptor for now but will mill a recess for the caliper to accomodate the offset in hub)
I have tried flipping them, swapping adaptors / calipers from left to right, still getting the same result. Any suggestions will be appreciated. I don't mind if I need different rotors as I will be replacing everything once I figure out how it is all going to work. Thanks.

i had the same problem with the calipers with the square hole in the top, Non turbo calipers with the solid top fitted easily, but it will depend on what your adapter plates are made to suit

Thanks Grant, I might see if I can get a set of SR20 calipers and and see if that improves things? If not I might have to devise up my own adaptor plate.

I used the same combo also with the adapters from datgx and mine went straight on, mine was a 120y strut but pretty sure they are the same

No they slightly different I believe. The typical s13 conversion does require 120y struts

I think making up my own adaptor might be the easiest option? I don't think that there is enough meat on the existing adaptor to correct the caliper.

Haven't got it sorted yet, I ended up with a set of 120Y struts with the larger spindle. I will try to get it together soon and post my results. Haven't played Datsuns for a while good excuse to get into it!

The 250mm rotors are right, I think I was trying to fit them to the wrong strut. I contacted Datgx a while ago and apparently they will work with 120Y and 1200 coupe struts. I have dummy fitted the setup on the 120y strut and it seems ok but i will confirm and take some pics tomorrow.
