#1 Upgrading 1200 ute rear suspension
Murvz Posted on: 2014/3/18 22:52
Hey peeps
I'm currently upgrading the rear end of my 1200 ute and cant decide which shock absorber to run with my reset leaf suspension. Ive read on the tech wiki that kyb part # 443066 can be good.. Ive also looked into koni vw shocks part #'s 80-1350 and 80-2149.

Was wondering if there was any datsun lovers out there that have used any of these shocks and could give me some advise on which to choose. Im not looking for a track setup, more of a street sport setup.

Cheers!

The VWs may need modification

Adjustable Koni or Pedders are the go.

I got Pedders in mine, they do make them for a 1200 Ute.
From memory they were $250 for the pair....I think.

Ran the kyb's in the rear of my ute and now have koni's, hands down koni's everytime...

Kyb's are really stiff, so if you're planning on carrying loads they wouldn't be too bad, plus they're pretty cheap!!
But if go koni everytime if you have the coin.

An easy/cheap mod for utes if you don't use it to carry loads
Is to remove the overload leaf spring on the bottom and add a full
Leaf instead. Add 2 if you want to use it for motorsport events.
