i was just wondering what year the 1200 copues started and what year the finished in oz?

i know the 1200 utes in oz started from 70-85
(they were built into the 90s over seas)

71-73 im pretty sure, just over 1 year

they still build utes in South Africa

i saw a 1200 coupe bulit in 69? for sale? i thought they built them longer than that?

are they still building the UTES! noooooooooo.....! i might have take a trip over there!

my coupe is registered as a 70, but was built in 69

the ones in south africa look a bit funny cus they have that high roof like the 60 series grand land cruiser the saharer or what ever they call it

the 1200 ute in south africa are called Bakkie's.
they never came out with A12 motors they were factory prodced withA14 and A15 motors which is wicked!

And also factory 5 speed gearboxes as well as a little bigger cabins (Up and back).
Alot of them are brown though. Which is unfortunate.

From what I heard I thought that they stopped making them like last year or year before or something?

the brown is okay...... come on mines brown, u get used to it after awhile.

thats good that they brought it out with a factory 5 speed cause i need a 5th gear...

i heard they are still making them cause they are shipped to the poorer countries in africa cause thier so cheap to make and small (eaiser to move).

just going back to the coupe topic.. why were the coupes made for a short time? did they have bad sales, or other models over take ,etc?

the utes were made for 15 years in oz

from halfway through 70 till end of 73
