A12 Stroker?

Does anyone know anything more on stroking an A12. I am on a tight budget and want more power (so I can match my friends 74 1800 Celica, with extractors). I might also look at
rallying it and I have found that you must keep your A12 block to run in the PRC (production rally class). So does stroking an A12 work? What is involved? Or what is another CHEAP and reliable way to get lots more grunt? Does stroking reduce revability? I have heard that you can pull harder low down but can rev out easily. Cheers, Simon

I know a guy who build thes rally stroker engines not cheap its not just a bol in job needs a fair bit of machine work they can produce 150hp at 7500 so they still
rev pretty well.

Actually, I know some guys who've already done the swap with the VG30DET. This is a single turbo engine from the earlier 300ZX...the turbo does sit low on the passenger side, so
it might need to be moved to make room for the steering box, besides that I've heard it's an easy fit.

So would it be worth while (assume I either rallied my coupe or just street)? Do you have any idea what sort of cost is involved?
If I walked into a performance shop down here in Tassie and said I want to fit A14 crank, A10 rods etc etc would they be able to go ahead and do it? I suppose it depends on what shop I go to and their experience. Do you know if a stroker kit is available for an A12, I know they make them for V8's.

As Andrew said the only reason to stroke a 1200 is to meet class requirements for racing - e.g. you must use an original block. If your budget is like the rest of us then you should
forget the stroker and build up a healthy A14 or A15 - heaps cheaper and within the same HP as the stroker A12. Depending on your prices you could also buy and fit a standard import motor eg CA18DE and 5 speed for heaps less than the build costs for the stroker A12.

I think i posted a message bout this before. My freind up in QLD has a stroker crank for his A15. He said it's about 1700cc. I only ever saw it, i never saw it running. It
was machined by some people up on Brisbane. Would be good to get hold of. Davo You can view topic.
