A 12 and a 5 sp

I have a A 12 motor in a 1960 Morris... i am looking for a 5 speed trans... i do not want the dog leg one... i have one and hate it...besides i live in flat wheat country and travel on flat land .. with long distances to go... What i would like to know is...... what 5 speed am i looking for that will match up to my A 12 ?

Sounds like you need a 60A type, that is the 5 speed with the normal shift pattern, it also has a slightly higher 5th gear.

These are the 5-speeds that fit the A12:
* 56A five-speed, from Datsun 1200 or Nissan Competition (dogleg) * 63A five-speed, from Datsun B210 (dogleg) * 60L five-speed, from Datsun B310 (dogleg) 1979 * 60A five-speed, from Datsun B310 (standard pattern) 1980-1982 The 60A is about $1000 on eBay. The 56A (1:1 fifth) is worth about 1500-2500. The other two about $500.

I recently bought an adapter bellhousing from Dellow. It mates the A series motor to a Toyota T50 5 speed box.
