New Synchros for 5-speed F5C56A gearbox

I guess it's getting hard to find replacement Porsche synchros for the GX5 gearbox?
Pitroad to the rescue * 58000 Yen Borg-Warner synchro conversion kit (about $580 USD). Uses standard 32604-H9000 synchros from the 60L 4-speed * 300000 Yen Overhauled F5C56A with BW synchros * 549000 Yen 5-speed with BW kit and straight-cut gear kit ("cross spur gears")Quote: The 56 has the common name glass transmission. Transform it into a transmission of bulletproof glass ... The front cover & the center plate which is the 56 A's achilles tendon will be changed to a reinforced product ... Since the high frequency sound played by the spur gear is notable, it becomes a circuit exclusive

Amazing find DD, and kudos to Pitroad for the foresight and engineering to preserve and improve these lovely jewel-like gear boxes. I want circuit exclusive noises for my gear box! Any thoughts on whether the synchros, the steel front cover and the new center plate will fit the close ratio 4-speed boxes?

Lets see ... the 4-speed uses the same front cover as the 5-speed. However the redesigned steel cover is a different shape, dunno if it will work in both. You could email Pitroad and ask. By the way it's 25000 Yen (about $250 USD)
The adapter plate I don't think is the same 4-speed to 5-speed The 4-speed comes with the same Borg-Warner synchros as shown here (though it varies in various years). They are available locally. The entire Timkin rebuild kit #TRKFN310 (bearings & synchros) was $250 in 2016

From the pitroad page, I understand you buy the $580 Warner synchro kit, and send them two shift rods for modification
![]() The brass synchro rings are stock 60L items. But the cones are custom. Instead of being built into the gears it looks like they slip over the F5C56 gears The hubs are also changed (may be stock 60L parts, or might be modified). GX-5 used triangular hubs ![]() stock F5C56 synchros (GX-5 production) ![]() A gearbox with this kit installed recently sold on Yahoo You can view topic.
