Wife wants to keep the Auto trans.

So in December I picked up another coupe. Sadly it has an auto transmission. My plans were to swap it out for a 5 speed but quickly went away as the wife wants to keep the auto.
So now that it stays in or any replacement has to be auto. What can I do to help the car be a bit sportier with the tradgedy staying in the car?

Simply convert it to ca18!
I put a ca18 with auto in my ute ... there's a build thread.

A mate of mine put a standard A15 behind
his auto and it transformed the datsun 1200 to something that was very acceptable and very reasonably priced

Zig I am blue collar American, so crass salty language is all I speak. Being PC is offensive to me.
I plan on using a Q motor in this car. So I am a little worried about it destroying the auto trans currently mounted. No getting rid of my wife. I am just happy she loves old cars and really loves Datsun cars.

Quick fix is to swap a rear end with 4.11 or 4.375 rear gears. With a 4.11 top speed will be 80 mph. Will make it peppy as a manual car (at least in 1st gear). Downside is even noisier at highway speeds
Best solution is to adapt a five-speed auto, e.g. one out of a Nissan pickup or Toyoda IS300. Peppy through all the gears with the 4.11 gear, great highway cruising, and economy equal to a 5-speed manual
