ca18det_man Posted on: 2003/8/26 12:40
Hi guys im looking at getting a new race seat for my 1200 its used to have a sparco road in it not too bad but a little shallow in support for my bum ect. need a kidney belt on some roads.
Anyone had good - bad experiences with any certain brand seat?? I dont want to spend a fortune but want a nice comfortable seat the gives heaps of support.
Cheers Andrew

I have just ordered an OBX Daytona fixed back race seat for my ute. It's costing $225. It looks very similar to the Sparco Sprint seat but fits a bit firmer right up the torso. Better for me as I'm not exactly huge. It felt the best out of all the brands mentioned above because of the tighter fit and the fact that you feel like you are sitting IN it not on top of it. It ways a bit over 7kg.
Hope this helps.

autobahn is good for seats not much else...they're pretty crap down here...but yer obx even tho they are cheaper are more comfy....fixed or lay downs..many diferent colours...and yeah they're legal if ya get em mounted properly...and cos tha 1200 is an old car...they don't fit the premade brackets...i made up some my slef on tha welder...strong and fine...but no engineer's certificate so not legal...not that they're gonna check...unless 4 roadworthy...also they are a tight fit...

BUT ITS ALL WORTH IT, TRUST ME....'specially after having original...fixed back seats that were screwed....cheers boys

My seat turned up in the mail today. Pretty good quality. Not as nice as my brother's Sparco Sprint seat but also half the dollars so I'm not complaining. They are ADR compliant but you will need an engineer's certificate for the street.

The one I have bought is similar to the fixed back Forza in the above photo but it doesn't have the abrasion resistant panels on the high wear areas and it fits a bit tighter around the bum and shoulders.

I'll have it in the car within a fortnight and hopefully get the chance to test it out any Queensland Raceway. I'll let you know if it's any good.
