#1 Bathurst Speed Weekend Dec 6-7
L18_B110 Posted on: 2003/10/23 7:41
Anyone planning on running? It's only 6 weeks away now. I'm seriously thinking of making the trip. It would be a real buzz to compete on parts of that track - even if you are going the wrong way.

Bathurst Light Car CLub Links for the Supp Regs don't seem to work, but the site has contact details.

My coupe will still be L18 until after that event which is the last of the year for me, then I'll have time to do the A12 un-conversion and build the turbo motor properly before next year's events kick off in Feb or March.

Other than that, I've only got another 2 events this year. Round 4 of the QLD supersprint series, where I've entered in a friend's 240Z. Should be a whole lot of fun

Then a couple of weeks later its the fantastic annual Noosa Historic Hillclimb in my 1200 coupe. I've got better gearing for that track than last year, and will be fiddling with the suspension setup a bit for that track as well. I want to get at least one first place trophy this year - it's been pretty frustrating so far. All 2nds and 3rds... So I've got big hopes for the turbo A12 next year...

yes harry,i hope to be there, but need to find employment to get there.i've tried to download the sup regs myself, maybe they haven't come back from CAMS yet.this is the event to try to
get to,as there's plenty of camping on top of the hill,at about $7 a night, with showers & toilets on site.oh & i think there's plenty of motels for anyone that way inclined.going through the chase is a blast,& the hillclimb is a
good one,too.

Cool. The cheap camping sounds like where the fun will probably be.

I'm trying to get a couple of other blokes up here organised to bring their cars down too, but even if that doesn't work out, I'm still keen to make the trip.

How far up conrod straight do they start you for the sprint event? Just curious what sort of speed you approach the Chase at?

They start in the dip. Speed is still pretty quick with My A14 I was hiting the kink at 160-170 flat .With the ca18 I was backing off before the kink as you start to get wide. I dont know exactly how fast but it was pretty bloody quick.
I was following a 550hp R32 GTR through there when I first put the CA18 in he said he was clocking just over 200kmh just before the chase. I was about half a car length behind him.
Mad Timo I doubt its the same torana as he has only just finished building it its a SLR5000 style should be pretty quick has some good gear behind it and a good driver too.
cheers Andrew

PS: Ill be over at bathurst this weekend for the 50th aniversary bathurst light car club do. If you like I can grab some sup regs and post them out.

andrew,i'd love 2 sets of regs, cause it's a double entered, maybe harry'd let you share a seat.maybe you could just mention to the event secretary that we haven't been able to download them off the club site.saves some postage if i can just print them off myself.

Hi guys I didnt get to Bathurst today after the misses had one of them hissy fits she is due any day now. so Im not stretching the freindship.
I have downloaded the entry forms and printed some copies out I dont think the supregs are back from cams as yet
The club is pretty casual so Im sure if you where send the entry form with all the details in with a cheque you should be right. Its best to get in early as its a very popuar event. The entry form is in PDF format so you will need adobe to read and print it out. I can email the file if your still having problems downloading.
Cheers Andrew

Good to hear you get a chance to build up some speed before the Chase

I can download an entry form, but not familiar with NSW classes for Speed Events - Type 1 - Type 5? Which 'Type' would an Improved Production car fit into?

improved production goes into type 3.type 1 is for stock standard, like sierra cosworth rs500's,type 2 is slight modifications, original motor, original style carby, type 4 is sports sedan, type 5 is open wheelers & clubman style cars,& sv is for wrx's & evo 5's.
