Datsun 1200 Dash Reconstruction

Hey Guys
Anyone ever reconstructed (from scratch) a Datsun Dash. I got my hands on some old Smiths gauges (oil pressure, temp, volts, fuel) And then hopefully adding the Speedo and Rev counter. Any ideas on what looks good? Someone suggested a Triumph Speedo and Rev counter but I'll think I'll run into trouble with the Rev counter (triumph = 6 cyl) If anyone has done anything like this then I'd be interested in tips, ideas???
