A14 Gearbox in Datsun 1000?

Can anyone tell me if an A14 gearbox will fit in a datsun 1000 without modifying the tunnel?
Also, are there any marking so that i will know the box is from an A14? Thanks

i did it years ago, but from memory you'll have to change the gearbox crossmember to the 1000 one, not sure on tailshaft length, but i think tey're the same, as for tunnel mods i originally had an auto so the tunnel was a bit bigger to start,

I have done this conversion a few years ago. The clutch lever that comes out of the A10 4 speed is unusual, it hinges on a different axis than the newer A series 4 speeds. This gave me a few headaches.
The best way to see this is to sit the two gearboxes side by side. I think the first time I did this conversion I bashed a dent in the firewall to create clearance for the new clutch lever (which I also shortened). The second time i did the conversion was much tidier, I cut clearance in the firewall/tunnel and had some steel welded in place. I still shortened the clutch lever a bit too, however avoid this if you can it effects the 'feel' of the clutch pedal. The first time i did this conversion was in a 1000 wagon, the second time was on a 1000 coupe. Jamesss

PS: From memory the shifter came up through the floor in the right spot, gearbox was the right length, so i didn't need to shorten the tailshaft.
