Isn't there a plug that plugs in from the Loom to the regulator????? Otherwise get a 1200 wiring diagram to find out what goes where, I have one if you need it
Cheers Damo

Sounds like your alternator has been switched out with one that has an in-built regulator. You'll probably find a place where the wiring block has had two terminals shorted out.

Hey, a wiring diagram? I would like one, please send me.
Many wires hang here and there in my 1200 pickup. Been wondering where they originally were connected to, otherwise everyting seems to work fine.

hey teretonga more details on the "two wires that are shorted out" would be great, im just trying to figure out the re-wire for an internal reg alternator myself at the moment

I thought when you have an internally regulated alternator there are only 2 or 3 wires that come out, ones battery, ones's ground and onescharge light...... Can anyone back me on that?

yeah thats right, but im thinking some wires from the old regulator plug probably need to be connected to each other or something, otherwise the circuit will be broken
comprehende amigo? (i know the speeling could use some work)

the voltage reg in my 1200 has a blown resistor in it although it doesnt seem to stop anything from working.. ive tried replacing the blown one but nothing is different with a working resistor in there. car is still going strong with dead resistor in there. im not sure whether or not it was dead when i got the car cuz it works even though its broken

On an internal regulated alternator there are normally three terminals, and a main terminal of course for charging. 'L' is for the charge light, 'B' is for battery feed (ignition) and 'S' is for a sensor wire that connects directly to the battery. Sometimes there will be 'E' which is earth but most just earth through the case.
