heater control and motor

my 1980 1200 ute's interior has been pulled apart and put back together, the hot to cold control works but no fan or switch to turn on fan. how do you turn on the fan (i.e. where is switch on dash)

The bottom heater control, has a picture of a fan on it. Pull the switch out... it has two levels...

But the problem is there is no knob on my dash where should it be. i suspect the switch has been replaced by the choke cable. when the cable knob is removed the whole in the dash looks likke an upside down T is the location. is it a push or twist knob. a pic would be great by any chance
