how to make 1200 auto faster

Does anyone know how to make a 1200 auto box work better. Its in a motorkana kanacross 1200 with a standard A15 and I hold it in first but it loses alot of power through the box. Is there a way to make the converter lock up or something.

You can use the same methods as with any automatic transmissions:
- A specialty transmission shop can modify the converter to a higher stall, for faster acceleration - If you want to favor low-speed operation, fit 4.10 gears from the 1200 wagon or ute to your coupe or sedan - No lockup converters are available. This generally takes a different transmission design. It would only help high-speed running anyways, it wouldn't help to make the car accelerate faster

Thanks ddgonzal.
Does the higher stall speed mean that I could maybe use a cam and hot the motor up a bit. I havent done very much to the motor as I didn't want to lose any power down low. I already have a 4.8 diff but the high 1st gear ratio means its like taking of in 2nd gear. Not what you want in a motorkana car. Thanks Olboy

Good lord, olboy, you must have a very good reason for racing with an auto?

He likes to video tape his runs by hand with the video camera planted firmly in his shifting hand.

The fastest drag racing cars are automatics. I don't know about gymkhana, but maybe not having to shift is a good thing?

if it's a khanacross/motorkhana car, you won't want ANY STALL at all. snappy throttle response is in order here, so maybe modify the oil pressure in the box as to keep the torque convertor locked up at all times. that will help the initial 'doughiness' from takeoff and under accel.

Thanks pro-240c.
sounds like thats just what I want. How do I do that I don't know much about autos but I'm a good learner. I built the car with an auto to give better traction in the dirt ( it dosn't spin the wheels as much as a manual ) and I have the hydrolic handbrake hooked up to a clutch pedal so I don't have to take my hands of the wheel to work the handbrake or change gear which usually happens when you are sliding around a corner. It is super easy to drive I just need more power. olboy
