i love 180bs, i used to own a slammed one with half cage, twin SU's, locked R180, buckets, fender mirrors etc etc. i miss it so much now. haha anyway just run standard compression, L18s will withstand anything.

2 headgaskets does not work. you could get a open chamber head off a L20 motor (U67 I think)

Mill out the combustion chambers??
Maybe get a scrap head , and butcher it to see how far you can go. Or maybe try and see if anyone makes a decompression shim for under the head.

The most common way for lowering compression for the L18 from what i have heard is putting the L20 head on it. It is the most easiest way that i have heard of but sorry i am not sure as to what compression it will give you. I suggest you contact Barry from Datsport. They are located in Lonsdale in South Australia, (08) 81862100. This guy knows heaps on datos and he used to rally them and won the rally of S.A years ago. The current thing these guys are doing is SR20DET conversions in 1600's. Previous to that they made supercharger conversions for the L series so they would definately know ideas on how to lower compression for your car.
Heres there web site:http://www.datsport.com
