#1 Rear wheel cylinders?
Abyss Posted on: 2004/6/17 4:21
Hello all,

I have almost finished doing the stanza strut upgrade with the girlock brakes and a booster but I have read something about changing the rear wheel cylinder to something smaller.

Everything I have read doesn't mention which cylinders to put in.

I was wondering if anyone knew which ones I should put in?

My Ute is a 1984 if that makes any difference.

Thanks

I would imagine that you would have to go bigger. Going bigger would apply more force on the rear brakes. Same pressure on a larger area. The B310/210 that i got my struts from had larger (13/16) rear wheel cylinders.
I believe the 11/16 is stock.

The bigger-braked B210 & B310 had 13/16 rear cylinders. The Datsun 1200 disc-brake model has 11/16 ... so when upping the brakes this sugggests that you should fit larger rear cylinders.

The good news is that drum-brake 1200s already have the 13/16 rears, so there's your source.

I was told this past weekend that P510 rear wheel cylinders are 13/16 and bolt right into the 1200 rear. So there's another source.

Thanks for the replies.

So it looks like I don't have to change a thing then on the back of the ute.

I have 2 "new" wheel cylinders sitting in the 1600 in the back yard so I might look at them if the current ones need replacing.

If they have a part number on the box, is there anywhere on line that I can check to see if they are the right ones??

Thanks
