#1 Snapped off spark plug ...
ddgonzal Posted on: 2004/7/11 22:39
Question from reader:Quote:
Whilst changing spark plugs in my A14 today, the last one snapped off below edges so I can't retrieve it with socket anymore...
How to get it out? I'm thinking you could probably use a large eazy-out to remove it but ... the risk is of getting bits of the broken insulator down in the cylinder.

Any ideas?

If it's an A Series. (no overhead cam), go buy a head gasket and remove the head. Don't mess about with anything else. It'll take an hour, and save an engine rebuild, and/or replacement cylinder head. It the thread into the head is buggered, they'll need to put a helicoil in, which is best done with the head off. Also with the the head off you have more tricks to try in regards to extracting the remainder of the sparkplug.
