This can be addressed in a number of ways.
1. Retard the timing when at high rpm & high boost by using a "boost retard" distributor 2. Increase the octane rating of the fuel 3. Lower the maximum boost pressure. 4. Reduce the maximum rpm level 5. Reduce the compression ratio 6. Use water-Alcohol injection when at high boost & high rpm 7. Richen up when at high boost. 8. A combination of two or more of the above. I suggest the first one for best results.

it's a e15 turbo motor stock standard apart from the air filter the book recons set the timing to 15 i've set it to 10 and it still pings using 97 octane?? why doesn't the knock sensor sort the timing out?

Is it working? Have you tested it, or had it checked out?

When it's rattling, BACK OFF!!!!!!!
Otherwise it will be a death rattle.

knock sensors are fairly useless in their operation, they don't tend to do anything in the high rev range as its so noisy its hard to determine any knocking. thats when you most need them! are you sure its pinging? coz a factory turbocharged motor running basically a standard setup should not have a problem, especially if running 97 ron fuel (which i've never heard of). optimax, BP ultimate and i think mobil synergy are 98 RON, all other premium unleaded i believe is 95.

yeh here we get 95 unleaded and 97 leaded.
i ran the ecu test last night and it said that the throttle control valve was faulty, where is that and what does it do? i retarded the timing only pings when you abuse it, but people said it might be fuel we are using

i'm not certain on the e15, but on the CA18, to set the base timing you need to follow a series of steps including disconnecting your throttle postion sensor. you'll need a manual to know for sure how to do this, should be on the net somewhere...
