hi tom 210, i saw your reply to my message
so i just had to write back. The coupes you are referring to that you have seen around, well the white one is my everday driver, it has been lowered by pedders, and 13inch minilites on it, other than that it is standard. the A12 is so quite its just so smooth on the road for a 77 model. The other green one with SI rego is my weekend/show datto which is in totally original condition, in cluding paint, chrome and interior and thats a 74 model. that also has been lowered and 13 inch wheels. The motor is a worked A12 which includes, oversize bore, flat top pistons, lightened flywheel, port n polished, A15 valves, shaved head, weber carby, extractors, 2 inch exhaust, mild cam, and electronic igintion. which goes very well, but everything else is standard. you may have also noticed my brothers ke20 corolla next to my datto at the usa day, thats also original. but lets keep talking about good cars now. did you see the pic of my 74 120y in yesterdays paper, that was at the Exeter show last year. I will be there this year also, it is on this saturday. Hope to talk to you then if you are there. I noticed that yours has the same grill as mine, does it have the mph/kph dash in it? I would love to here more about yours aswell, maybe some more pics would be great. Thanks, like to here from you soon.

cool, i cant actually make it this weekend as im khanacrossing in my cousins ke30 corolla out at powranna, i didnt see yesterdays paper but i can find one, my speedo is just kph and apart from the wheels my car is bog stock (well almost) once i get it passed and registered i'll be fitting the 200b suspension/brakes gear, they stick out too far to be passed, should be good once there on. hopefully one day mine will be white with a black bonnet, and probably paint my wheels grey, will be a ripper but as im unemployed (well sort of) and in yr11 at college, it wont be happening for a while.
nice talking. Tom oh and press "reply" not "start new thread" or whatever just so you dont fill up the main forum, i did the same thing when i started too. what area of launnie are you in im up on normanstone rd at the westbury rd end.

Hi tom how are you?
what year is your 120y? mine is the first of the 120y's as it doesn't even have a handbrake or brake warning light in the dash. Just a question did your datto come from deloraine area, as i was looking to buy one from there last year? Does yours have a brake booster or rear defogger as the early ones didn't. So how long have you had your datto for? The other day at a swap meet in town, there was a 1200 coupe in average cond. and sold for $50 in the first 5 minutes it arrived on the trailer. I am in the prospect area. Do you know of any other datto fans in tassie, I saw a neat white p-plater 120y sedan the other day in town, any way are you going to put in a L20 motor as you are putting in the suspension out of an L series datto. Ok i'd better go know, great to talk to you

its a 75 model, i actually bought it off a friend out at longford who was going to fix and use it ten years ago but never got round to it (he fixed it but didnt use it), i bought it last christmas eve, it hasn't got a defogger or brake warning light, im keeping the a12 as its enough work getting the struts in, and i dont want to try an engine swap just yet. i go to college with the owner of the white sedan.
just wondering do you have a front brake line from the right caliper to the inner guard that passes through the bracket attached to the 120y strut that you would consider selling as it was damaged on removal. any way nice talking

good morning
With the brake line that you are after, do you mean the flexible line, or the metal one. But the answer is know I don't have one, but you can buy new flexible brake lines. Try Tas Brakes at the end of Margaret st. They have done a lot of work for me and are very helpful.

Good to see a group of datto guys coming out of the woodwork over there!
the metal line is pretty cheap and you canusually get it from super cheap or someone like that in different lengths. and the hoses you can get new aswell. i know there are a few more dattoe fiends out and about on the site from tassie, such a small place you'll all be hoarding the dattos

hi how are you.
its good to see other datto fans coming out of the woodwork in tassie, as more are becoming wrecked nowdays, its great to hear and see people restoring these great cars. Anyway the datto 100A must be a rare find. Did you find it in tasmania, what year is it and what size motor does it have Everyday people just dont know about these rare datsuns. Keep up the good work and go the datto.

I found the Cherry at a friends grandparents place I was only going to have a look at it but ended up buying it. It is a 1971 2 door sedan with the A10 series engine. I plan to restore it to as original as I can.
I also have a 4 door sedan that will be my spare parts cars.I got this car shipped over from Adelaide. If enough of the car is left I would like to build it up into a fun car for motokhana's and such. I now know of 6 Cherrys in Australia 2 of them being the rare 120A coupes. As far as I know I have the only ones in Tasmania. But I am happy for any one to prove me wrong. You can view topic.
