#1 56/60 series gearbox output shaft splines question
Mawler1 Posted on: 2005/4/23 4:31
hi guys Im wondering how many different styles gearbox output shaft splines there are for A series gear boxes, I have heard that the 3N71B (3 speed auto) has different splines as does the 63 series gearboxes but does the 60 series gearboxes have different splines to the 56 series?

the reason that I ask is that I'm going to be converting "The Defect" (currently a 3 speed auto (3N71B) to a four speed manual (F4W60L I think - it is DEFINITELY a 60 series box it has the "6 0" on the side!) I just rang up a wrecker and the lady on the other end said "there are about 8 kinds of 120Y tail shafts" I thought there were four (I forgot about the 63 series)

I had the correct tailshaft but someone decided they needed it more
