Getting the original "1200rallycar" back!!!! ides for my drift machine?
1200rallycar

im going to get the green shell back, my original 1200 as some might remember
but its stripped of all the good mechanicals it used to have and will basically be stock my plan is to use the a15ett and driveline from the red coupe to build a drift car (and do some autocrossing in it) and using stock gear in the red car as a reliable road car, maybe an a15 but nothing too exciting, because the red shell is already registered could take some time for all this to happen but im pretty excited about it and will work toward it im wondering what the best thing to do for suspension would be? i hate it when old cars drift and get huge body roll, looks stupid, so im definately working towards romoving that, and obviously it doesnt have to handle great, so i guess just stiffen it up a lot short sterring arms are definately going in for quicker ratio any ideas, even crazy ones for what i could do with the car to make a cool drifter?

the other thing is a15ett or CA
(d/mans opinion doesnt count on this) would be cool to be doing it old skool with the a15, but would it last long with this treatment? and if i go CA what to do with the a15ett? not the road car, i need something reliable i can also see i will need a car trailer for this, is it worth trying to build one of these or just go for a secon hand job?

hmmmm brother just made a good point, does the car need to be registered to drift, like at the calder practice nights, does anyone know, if it does i dont think id bother in the near future just keep building the red car up and drift it sometimes

Ive hear the cars need to be rego'd, which i think is a crap rule...
Second hand trailers are hard to come by in good nick...the only ones Ive seen for sale were totally clapped out...be good to build one if you have the time...CA18DET_MAN ( Andrew) is building one at the moment and if you have any skill with a welder you could knock one up for $1500. You could both build it as a project for the club. in syndey a friend on mine bought a reall good one but for $3500... big $$$compared to what you can buy a good Datsun for.

hmmm yeah im pretty sure it does need rego now
bugger......... i now have an auto coupe shell, what to do, what to do. could build an autocross car, but im more keen on the drift, guess i could use it for my CA build up over time, but still..... maybe clean up the body over time and register later... how difficult life can be

you'd be better off goin with a registered car, unless you feel like going up against fully worked 180s and 200sx's
im pretty sure that theres a road registered class and a profetional class

depends on how road worthy the car is, doesnt have to be an actual road car just has to be road registered

I personally think you should just put a (efi)stocker together for you to get round.... and test fit and rebuild and setup the Ca18det in the green coupe. then either stick it in there or swap to the red coupe.
I know the CA is your big dream, been for ages. I think you would get the most satisfaction out of it...and could race the CA coupe too. I know its againest my oldskool ways but i know its what you have wanted for ages. PLus going the CA will mean doing everything up with nicely, and even some decent mods on it too , all depending on your cash flow. But still leaves in in that dark little corner, because you have the weak diff problem again. R31 diff fit into the green one?? its perfect you have a second coupe to work and test fit everything!! plus you still get to drive a 1200. You can view topic.
