wayne13bcoupe Posted on: 2005/6/21 10:22
building 1200 coupe with 13b turbo,(yeah i know MAZDA in datto!)aiming for 9s but want to keep the car as streetable as possible. i know of a few drag cars running 7s and 8s but all seem to use rollcage. i know this is a good option to strenghten up the whole car but is there another streetable option like chassis rails or something? thanks for your help.

ANDRA rules say that if you run quicker than 10.99 i believe you need a full cage, harness ect.

I can sell you a twisted coupe which would twist the opposite way to your torque and all would be OK!!!

I think youll find the rules still apply. Anyway in a 1200 running 9sec quarters at over 160mph I think I would like a cage. I mean if you hit the wall life is over at that point. 1200s are made from recycled coke cans you know.

Converted just brace it now your reckon, so when its under full load its dead straight. I bet there are draggers out there that actually use that principal.

yeah anything running sub 11sec 1/4 miles need to be caged as the raceway will say go home and don't come back without a cage and they won't let you race without one. I got that off a discussion on the cruising brisbane forums

Cheers

Yes Wayne strengthening the body from under the car like chassis rails ect can be done and is a good option if ya dont wont the po po pulling you over every time they see your cage, but its not as strong as a cage and is quite expensive and weighty (I just made up that word)

You didn't make up the word.

weighty
adjective: Having considerable weight; heavy.

Wouldn't you consider a cage anyway? Is your life important to you? What if you crash at speed?..........Just food for thought.
