#1 Interesting Turbo setup
Frodaddy Posted on: 2005/7/13 5:02
Sorry guys about the make of the engine here as it is a Toyota 4K and not a Datsun but it is an interesting setup.

It is running a 40mm Dellorto DHLA and a Mazda GTX Turbo, cam, electronic ignition and a spacer between the head and block for compression.

Very simple, I like it.

Goes to show just how easy such a setup can be to put together.

Makes some of the others look like a real basket of snakes.

I would be interested to see how that radiator hose looks under boost though..

A set up like this is easy to build, but it is mandatory to use SILICON hose for the blow side.

Yeah, thought that hose might be a bit dodge...

i use all radiator hoses on mine straight off the turbos, no probs yet

radiator hoses run water at over 100 degrees and upto 15psi

so should be upto the job,
of course silicon is preferred if ya wanna spend the cash

there is a setup like that one here on the island...But it was used on a... Ford. Engine produce a fair amount of torque compared to using the normal Su's

Ps.Do u guys have metro turbos down under......The 'turbo seal' Su's(they r used for blow thru 2 ) on that car is good for 400bhp with the rite tuning and needles.

check MG Metro?Meastro forums. not sure whats else different, besides the pressure seals and the plenum. Float Chmaber is at the bottom of the carb like strombergs...

Silicon hosing is used because it can withstand varying pressure and vaccums, radiator hose when off positive boost can cave in on itself thus cutting up air flow to the engine resulting in poor milage and power, however silicon won't stretch outward like radiator hose can.

Don't get me wrong radiator hose can do the job it's just that it's not suited for this perticular application where as silicon is.
