#1 what is the 1st thing you would do ???

Hi Guys, A very simple question.
If you bought a 5 speed gearbox what is the very first thing you would check when it arrived ??
This is a no brainer , but I need everyones answer.

yeah i'd do that 2, we were lookin at a corolla 5spd and it turned out to be a rooted 4spd so yeah

I pulled a gearbox from a trashed 1200, stored it and didnt realize it was a 5 speed until a friend came over and saw the smooth case and commented.. That gearbox is now in the 1200..

Yes, I would make a mental note before buying a gearbox to check the number of gears, as i have been caught out before!!

make sure its a dato 5 speed and if its a rally box or overdrive box

I would put it into each gear and spin the input shalf and see that each gear turns the output shalf.

I would do the same paying special attention to the relative speed and direction of the output shaft in 5th and Rev.
