#1 Bigger wheel studs?
datrat_dave Posted on: 2005/8/16 9:28
This is quite a stupid question but i need your guys advice before moving on!

How would i go about sourcing longer wheel studs for my Sunny? I need about 10mm more as the spacers wont allow for the stock ones to be used (run out of thread) and someone said in another post that Bluebird ones were longer..

Now im guessing i just cant ask the wreckers to go get me some and they wont let me go get it unless ill have to buy the whole rear end or axels, so can i use just standard old longer bolts and bang them in/weld somehow?
Or does there need to be the fine thread on the actual stud like there already is?

Oh and has anyone had any experience with having their springs heaten up and re tensioned/positioned at a different ride height? Im most probably going to do this to my springs for a lower ride (2" maybe or less)

Cheers
Dave

Hi Go to your local Nissan dealer he should have listings on all the studs and there sizes.
We used longer ones on the 1000 front when we fitted discs to it.Cant remember what they were off.

Thats jsut what i needed guys thanks very much!!
Yeah Greg i wasnt sure if Nissan would hold obscure information like that so i didnt go check, but i spose if they still sell gear sticks & genuine cigarette lighters then they'd sell wheel studs

Where'd you find that lemonhead? Have you operated thru them before?

Cheers!

Been looking thru the NiceProducts catalouge ( i can never spell that word) and there is an option for a longer wheel stud for the Sunny, how cools that!

I measured my stock ones and i got:
Length : 37mm
Knurl Diameter: 12mm
Shoulder: 11.5 mm

The longer aftermarket ones are :
Length: 73mm
Knurl Diameter: 12.7mm
Shoulder: 15.3mm

Now the spacers i reckon ill get from these guys also are on the site.. The spacer is 151mm and 71mm, with the 73mm length it should work a treat!

Maybe my suspension and wheel dilema's will be over when i get all this done! maybe...

I'll contact them in the morn about this stooof, now im tired

Thanks once again!
Dave

I found the weird Stanza wagon had just the right length studs for spacers.

They were dirt cheap and came off quick, but I don't know if you guys even got this model:

Yes we did - it was the venerable Nissan Prairie. Converted wants to race one of those as well as a C20 van

Dave
Heres a part number for some long wheel studs NS4570. They are made by nice.
I am fitting them to a 1600 at the moment.
If you need to cut them to length leave the a bit long so you can change wheel spacer sizes.
