#1 lowering 1200
dadr Posted on: 2005/8/18 11:05
hey all,
i am currently part way through changing a lot of my 1200 sedan and i would like to try and lower the car, hower as i am sure many of us find it is quite hard to get some parts for the beloved datsuns. what are the different approaches to lowering, so far i have been told that they cant be lowered, by others i have been told it willl cost me nearly 2 grand. All i want 2 know is what components need replacing and any estimates of cost

cheers
andrew

King spings sell low coil springs for the front for $120 the pair($95 with repco discount). And either put lowering blocks in the back about $70 or get the leaves reset which is recommended. I got mine done for $180 with an extra leaf added or $110 witout the extra leaf for stiffness.

Who ever said it cant be done or it will cost 2g is full of shi7. You can do it for less than $300 doing it properly without blocks or cutting.

If you have an account with repco you get so much off. I use my uncles account as he has a engine reconditioning business and as an account and now Dad has one too as he always rings up for me during the day while im at work to order the parts and the bloke said since your such n suchs brother you can have on to. Its not the best but it saved $25 on a $120 pair of springs. If you use it all the time it adds up to a nice little saving.

hey there.

If you guys are interested i do coil over set for the 1200. When you buy shorter springs u will find that the strut will bottom out on the top bearing. When i build the coil overs i shorten the shocky tube, allow more travel and NO bottoming out. I also do break up grades using 180 discs and calpers. If any one is interested, message me and ill give u more INFO.
Trent.

Dude look for a suspension shop in the yellow pages where they make their own springs on the premises, they will be cheaper than a place that buys them in.

They can give you a quote if you drive down and see them.
