im about to undertake the biggest mechanical modification i have ever done!!! a 120y disk brake conversion!!! the only problem i have is that on one of the brake callipers that i brought one of the pins that hold the brake pad in place is missing!! you know the one that looks like a nail. if anyone in tassie has one let me know please i would be your friend for life. i thought about making one out of a nail but then i figured that it would probably be weaker and could easily bend.
i think i have got all i need including 2xfrount struts 1xmaster cylinder. i have read threw the tech article several times but fail to see why i need the front brake lines, im assuming that they mean the metal ones from the body to the master cylinder. any help on this/ friendly tips or comments feel free to reply. i would much rather get in and have a go than get my dad or a mechanic do it. Thanks

My only tip would be, have a go and you will surely succeed, also go with the nail until you find the real bit, it will be fine.

Well being a 73 you should already have a tandem m/c is this correct? If so leave brake lines as they are! If its a single m/cyl then yes you need to get some lines!
I assume its a sedan, so your master cyl is for drums, you'll have to remove the little rubber valve from the bottom of the master cyl where the front brake line come out (where it says F) bolt them into your car and your done! bleed all four corners well, you'll loose a lot of brake fluid, be patient because you wont get pedal until you've bled quite a few times. Before you bolt struts in, make sure the calipers are not leaking, disc is within limits in terms of width, and pad thickness, and also check your rear wheel cylinders are not leaking either, also rear shoes! May as well fix these before you bleed your brakes and do it once and its done! G/luck!

yea it has 2 reservoir i looked at it and thought that it looks fairly similar, so i brought that m/c and i don't actually need it? how do you check to see if they leak?
dose anyone have one of those nail looking things that hold the pads in?? maybe it could be sent through the post in as a regular letter? also are there differences between brake/struts in different models e.g. coupe, wagon, sedan? are the strut top the same or do you have to swap the 1200 ones over?

that little pin that has a cotter pin at one end and retains the brake pad?
shouldn't be that hard to get. go to the junk yard and get one. shouldn't cost anything.

my local wreakers closed about a week ago, and all the cars where crushed. thats where i got my parts from, i think i got ripped off with the prices considering that they probably where paid to remove the whole car.
i will pay for one if someone has one spare. so please if someone has it in there hearts...

Just take the one that you have round to parts shops, or specialist fastener shops. Someone will be able to match it up
