Sunny suspension upgrade on the 1200

Right so today/tommrow its all go here on the car. First thing on the list is putting my sunny's front end suspension in the ute.
Now ill be using complete strut assembly (strut, tops, shocks, discs, lines, calipers) but do i need to swap the sunny lower control arm (LCA) in for the 1200's LCA? Im guessing if i did the sunny LCA would give me more negative camber depending on the offset of my tires (getting new tires soon not sure what offset to get) is this true? The 1200 LCA's have new balljoints so i'd like to keep those if possible and waht are the benefits in using the sunny tension rods over the 1200 ones? apart from the sunny ones have new bushes I've been searching on the site and really only come up with stanza info on the swap which i know is similar but is it identical? Cheers guys Dave

wish i knew the length of the sunny control arms, I know that the arms from most old RWD datsuns seem to be interchangeable, difference being camber. i think the lower ball joints all use the same bolt hole spacing, if not, they seem to all use the same strut tube diameter, so use whatever ball joint fits the control arm.
really old 1000's might be different, but 210's/510's/810's/and such seem to be reasonably interchangeable.

Ahhh it all becomes clear now! Cheers dodgeman!
So the sunny/1200 LCA's are exactly the same length just the B310's balljoints are 12 - 15mm longer but bolt spacing is all the same. That mite mean ill just use the sunny LCA's and replace the balljoints later, their ok atm and wont need doing for a while i hope. How much extra camber is expected from using this setup? I know it increases tyre wear from increased camber but road handling is improved and lets me be able to use my TRX rims on the front with this sunny upgrade which will be good. I'll post some progress pics up today or tommrow depeding on weather (sh*thouse atm and time). Cheers Dave Also, how much $$ would i be looking at for a set of balljoints for the sunny struts roughly?

Just make sure that you read the WHOLE thread before doing anything drastic, & as for pricing, just give your local Auto Parts store a call.
Call your Nissan dealer too, you never know, they might actually be cheaper. You have the part numbers if they need them. Negative camber is great for the race track, but it's illegal & unsafe for street duty. It's also un-necessary unless you plan to drive most everywhere at full speed. It screws up your tyres pretty quick too.

the stock camber on a sunny is 0 degrees, and with a good setup that is pretty responsive, you'd not want to run any more than -2 on the street, adding negative makes steering really darty and wears tires out quick.
I say -2 in part because some FWD cars run a little - camber already. If where you live messing with the camber is illegal, then don't do that. i have camber plates so I could experiment with more -camber, but so far it's just fine at 0. if you're swapping bits, you could also use 280zx struts and hubs, brakes with sunny LCA's and get way better brakes.use your old strut tops and change to shorter 240sx springs ( i think this is the cheap way of getting the more expensive swap I did. ) Make sure to do your research, but my swap went off fairly smoothly and is very reliable.
